counselling in Littlehampton

ACC is a registered Charity and is accredited by the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy; it complies with the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

ACC offers a confidential service and adheres to an Equal Opportunities policy responding to applicants regardless of gender, disability, ethnicity, sexuality or belief.

ACC currently has 30 counsellors working in an open-ended way, receiving regular supervision in seven groups, and two counsellors specialising in CBT-informed counselling. All counsellors are qualified or in training and all supervisors are professionally qualified.

ACC offers counselling to any person assessed to benefit from the process and each client is asked to make a contribution which is calculated upon income... no one will be turned away because they cannot afford to pay.

The office is open to enquiries Monday to Friday 10am to 12 noon - but it is always possible to leave a message outside of these times.

The counselling takes place at Dove Lodge in the centre of Littlehampton. The regular weekly sessions are held by mutual arrangement between the client and counsellor - this will usually be during the day, but we are also able to offer some evening and Saturday morning appointments.

Note:  update 7/9/17

ACC experienced an overwhelming increase in the number of individuals seeking counselling at the beginning of this year. It became necessary to temporarily stop taking on newcomers and, instead, focus on the allocation of clients already on our waiting list. Happily, we are again now responding to new applicants, though it should be noted that we may have a waiting list.

We do have a new office manager and ACC does need, from time to time, to recruit suitable volunteers who can offer two or more hours per week to respond to calls to our service 10.00.a.m. to midday weekdays.

A small number of our counsellors are in the process of achieving their Diploma qualification.  We are also very pleased to interview qualified counsellors who are able to volunteer three hours each week (and receive free professional supervision, insurance cover, and subsidised cpd workshops).  Please contact me if you would like more information.

All our counsellors at Arun Counselling offer OPEN-ENDED counselling; two qualified counsellors offer CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) interventions when this is deemed to be the more appropriate reponse - regarded as particularly effective in the treatment of depression and anxiety.

Out of hours counselling is now available in the evenings and on Saturday mornings
